Wow, Sorry I've been MIA. On Nov. 02, 2009 the motherboard on my laptop fried!!! :0(.. It took me a month and many very special friends to get me back online.. Good Morning and thanks for stopping by. Just wanted to pop in real quick since it's been so long between updates. A lot is going on here. I start a new job on Tuesday which I'm very happy about. I will be a customer service rep. for a call center and since Customer Service is my passion I am super excited. I am trying to clean off my "Scrappin" calendar so I won't feel so overwhelmed, so today I'll be crafting and hopefully sharing. Here is my very first ATC. I signed up for "The Cutest Little Pumpkin" ATC on Penny Duncan's yahoo group ArtHeavenFriends. I'm not really sure I like how it turned out. It was my first attempt at using my stickles so it may take me a bit to get used to that neat little idea..

Time Flies

Hello Everyone! I hope this finds you all doing well!! It's been a little crazy here. I really really need to learn to update my blog more often like most of the ladies I know, but they have some spectacular items everyday. Well practice make perfect right? Here are some of the things I've completed.

The first is my version of the purse box by Mel Stampz click here for here website it's amazing the items and knowledge she shares!

I am not too happy with how the suitcase turned out.. Penny Duncan made me a beautiful file to cut on my cricut and I did not do it justice. I had an idea in my head and will try again to see if I get the results I want. In the meantime I'll show you the one I did do. If you want the most amazing files created for the cricut you most def. want to stop at Penny Duncan Creations. She will also convert her files for a small fee so you can cut them on other machines! Amazing gal she is I just love her.

I have been having fun with my cricut lately. I don't know if it's because my ex mother in law just bought one and has had lots of questions or if I finally have found my groove but it's been a blast.. Here are a few cards I made with links to the files if you would like to download them.

The following card is for a challenge for a girl named Paige I can't tell you where I got any of the files other then the border is from Paulo and you can find his art here.

Paulo also created the file for this card, every element is his.. Click here for the files. I am not a Halloween fan but Paulo's file was so amazing I had to try it and I love how it cut and turned out..

I am so honored and speechless Penny Duncan of Penny Duncan Creations gave me my very first blog award ever.. Coming from Penny it mean so very much to me and def. made me feel very special.

So here goes, gosh I just love doing so much.

Ok First you have to meet Oz

So who is Oz? Well Oz is a Turkey of course. We met Oz about 2 years ago as a hatch ling and brought him home with 11 other turkeys, 5 males 6 females. Well in the turkey world (and chicken world) there is 1 dominant male, Oz was that 1 male in the turkey pen. Until 1 day all 4 other turkeys jumped him and almost killed him. Well I won't stand for that I was so mad the other 4 almost became turkey dinner right then and there. Oz was in pretty bad shape, so bad he let me pick him up; that was quite the sight to see me carrying a 25 pound turkey to the garage so he could heal. He healed but it took him months to be accepted back into the flock. In the mean time he was able to free range (the others were not allowed to they jumped Oz every time I let them out). Oz has become my friend! He eats out of my hand, walks up to me when I walk outside to do "critter duty". I just think he's adorable.

We have been having issues with a predator!! All 6 of our hens are now gone. 5 were plucked right off their nests and 1 last week plucked right off her babies. I am devastated. I tried like crazy to catch her 6 babies and bring them to the brooder that we have and was able to catch 3, but they are quick little buggers. lol.. I was so worried about them, but no need to be... Oz to the rescue! To my amazement Oz has taken to these babies and is "mothering" them. Last night he sat down on the ground and let them crawl under his tummy to get warm. How sweet is that? They follow him around like he is their momma, it's just too stinking cute.. So now Oz has 4 babies to look after and he is loving it, but he won't come near me now, he is afraid I'll take the babies and yes he has 4 because 1 managed to get out of the brooder and get back to it's siblings.

I love my Google reader. I don't miss what is going on, on the blogs I follow. I just pop my Google reader up and it shows me all the new posts by the blogs I've subscribed too. Any hoot I didn't realize it was Saturday already, but Stef at Glitterbabe Greetings posted the questions and my reader caught it. So here are my answers.

1. It’s July. How has the weather been where you are?
It's been nice here, yesterday in the 90's today in the high 80's,

2. What is the best way for you to beat the heat?
Stay in the house with the heat pump. Awww I'm so spoiled

3. “It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity.” Do you buy that?
No Way... They both stink

4. Do you like hot tubs or saunas?
Oh lord I'm a whiner I don't like anything that makes me uncomfortable.

5. What’s the hottest you’ve ever been?
in my early 30s

6. How many times do you hit the beach in the summer?
Beach????? I can't afford to drive to town let alone two hours to the beach. Nope not this year, and that is too bad it's my favorite place to be.

7. When you were a kid, what did you do in the summer?
play in dirt, drink from a dirty hose, walk thru the fields BAREFOOT, swing from a tree, jump in the lake, pond, pool, sprinkler (whatever was around), ride in the back or on the hood of a truck down a dirt road
and look at that.... i'm still alive and there were no lawsuits! go figure. hmmm same as Stef's answer... I'll add a couple of things though, I would ride in the back of the truck with no shirt on. We would also sit on the curb and wait for our sitter's boyfriend to come back up from the canyon with rattle snakes.

8. Surfing. Have you ever gotten on a surfboard? Body surf?
No way again read the statement above I'm a whiner, but I will get on the inner tube behind the boat...

9. What’s your favorite summer song?

So I thought I would jump on the bandwagon since all of my friends over at Art Heavens Creations Friendship are showing us where they go to create I'm gonna jump right in and share mine too..

*****Just be warned***** I am ADHD, so my room is chaos and I no matter how hard I try or new creative storage idea I come up with it just seems to always look like this. Someday I'll get my hubby to build me one of those nice cabinets so I can hide my mess.. lol..

Here is a picture of my room from the door..

This is the place I sit down to do all of my crafting. I used to sit on the floor even though I have plenty of table space it seems to be where I do my best work. This is an old coffee table we used to have in our old house. I put the piece of fabric over it because stored under it are my paints, metal embellishments, a box of printed templates and a few other baskets of goodies.

This shelf is used for storing all of my scrapbooks, most of them empty. Idea books I do not use very often, paint chips, mosaic tiles, scrap pads, watercolor sets, scissors, etc.

This is my desk. I spend most of my time right in the chair on the computer lol.. Need to figure out how to get some crafting done. The iris cart under it is all of my embossing powders, then my printer station, rubber stamps, I have other misc. items stored underneath also stationary, ink pink collection, books. I love to read.

Then of course I had to get a close up of my most favorite stamps. I keep the rest in the dresser.

This is the start of the other side of my desk. Glues, etc. Misc tools and supplies.

Yahoo, my favorite part. My Cricut..

This cart is full of stickers, don't know why I have so many I don't use them.

12 X 12 Paper, ribbons, pens, and a tackle box full of eyelets.

My Sizzix station, templates, basket of wire, and some misc.

Fibers and unwrapped ribbon.

This dresser is full of rubber stamps, most of them I've never used. Hmmmm

Ok last one, more 12 X 12 paper storage I'm running outta room lol..

I'm so excited. I've been doing some blog hopping I'm new to this so bear with me. In the last couple of weeks I learned about something called "Blog Candy" so I took some time and entered a few. Garage Sale Finds Yahoo..

I love going to a good garage sale. I'm just not a good "garage sale goer". I'm always on the look out for the bathroom. Funny huh? I live so far from town that it's almost like the minute I hit the car I'm looking lol.. But yesterday I had to go to a fellow FreeCyclers home to pick up some packing peanuts, we use them for shipping out eggs to our customers. When I got there I was in crafter's heaven. I couldn't afford much but I did spend $7.75 and love everything. I might go back tomorrow to see if she has anything left I can get for half off? Here are a couple of pics of what I found.

I am fairly certain that some of the items I got where old old old. I found a lot of Invisible eyes and hooks that ranged from .05 cents to .35 cents. This was such a blast. There is another big one today that I might try and sneak too, but alas I'll have to wait until I finish the menu for the week and the grocery budget.

Cool Find at Home Depot Yesterday..

So yesterday morning I was up and outta here at 5:30 a.m. Not fun!!!! I had to take hubby and my DSD (Dear Step Daughter) I dislike that "step" word tremendously, to work. So I could go to Olympia, and hour away to pick up some packing peanuts we requested on FreeCycle. I got there an hour early so I decided to run to Lowes and Home Depot see if they had any old Wallpaper books they needed to unload. No such luck. I was able to get a few tiles. I'm on a very strict budget. As I'm sure most of us are. Plus, I have tons of stuff that I need to use before I can buy new stuff.. Any hoot, I found the neatest paint chips at Home Depot from Behr Paints, they are shaped like a flower leaf. Here are pictures since, I'm not very good at typing descriptive words. I hope someone can use these little cuties. They measure from Highest point 2 3/4 X 4 3/4 so they are rather big but they have a little cut out on one corner that is signifigantly smaller.

These are just a few of the colors available. There is a wider variety of colors to choose from.

Stef at Glitterbabe Greetings has promised to post questions for her readers every Saturday. This is the first time I get to answer the questions. I was not sure whether to do it on her blog or here and maybe link back to her, but either way I'm going to answer and enjoy.

1. If you have been or are married, tell us about your wedding. If you are not, tell us how would you want it to be.
my first wedding was traditional - you know, white gown, 150 people, expensive.
my 2d wedding was in our living room by a justice of the peace and a fabulous - inexpensive party afterwards. This is the same answer Stef gave and ironically it's my answer too, other then my 2nd was done at City Hall.

2. What age would you encourage your children to get married?
Hmm tough one. I don't think there is a certain age I would tell them, I would tell them to be engaged for awhile. I was for 4 years the second time.

3. Who got married at the last wedding that you attended?
My good friend Chrissy and Scott.

4. Do you enjoy weddings and receptions?
not really. but i love cake so i go for the cake

5. Have you cried at a wedding?
Nope, it takes a lot to make me cry, unless of course a child is hurt. Then I am hysterical then MAD..

6. Would you prefer a lavish event or a intimate ceremony?
I've done both, I prefer the intimate ceremony..

7. Have you ever been in some one’s wedding party? If yes, do tell.
Nope.

8. Does a wedding make you happy and sentimental or grouchy and skeptical?
They of course make me happy so much future to look forward to, especially if the bride and groom know for a fact that they have met their soul mate.

9. Why do you think our divorce rate is so high?
I agree with Stef on this one, no one takes marriage or their vows seriously anymore. It's not all candy and roses. There is hard work, dedication, and saying I'm sorry!!!

Playing with the Cricut again, oh how much fun.

I just love my Cricut Expressions. It makes card making, scrap booking, home decor, and so much more fun fun fun!!! I just wish I could afford all the toys to go with it (don't we all).

I created a wooden sign to complete my kitchen design of roosters, go figure, I'm a chicken farmer and my kitchen is done in rooster lol...

For this project I used:
A piece of scrap plywood left over from chicken coupe building 20" long X 4" wide.
I sanded it and painted it "Barn Red" from the Apple Barrel Acrylic Paint line.
I used the Cricut Vinyl and the whackadoo font. I found the cutest chicken file at MaMaws Legacy. If you have not been to her site and gotten any of her files you are missing out. Her files are amazing.

Here is a picture of my art work hanging in my country dining room. I know it's not straight, that will come when hubby gets home from his latest business trip. Being blind in one eye is not helpful when you are trying to hang straight lol..

I am working on more. Hopefully today I will have our family name sign done for the bottom of our driveway and I can share that.

New Project just completed

So I've been trying to organize 11 years worth of scrapping and stamping stuff for a month now. It's been all boxed up for two and half years due to a move. I have been going through a really rough patch in life and am hoping that getting back into creating art with my hands will help me significantly. So far so good I think, it's kept me positive and going. Here is the latest project I made just for fun.

It is just made of card stock and vector art I found on the internet. It was fun to do.

I just took another $5.00 Wal-Mart frame and painted it black with acrylic paint. I also took the mat and painted it orange with "Making Memories" scrapbook paint called "Eat your carrots".
To seal it I used "Aleen's Instant decoupage on the paper and Polyurethane on the wood frame.

I hope you like it as well.

New arrivals

It has been super busy here and today I woke up to a nice surprise. While standing at the kitchen sink making some more morning coffee, I was stunned to see one of my girl ducks stroll past the window with a HUGE line of baby ducks behind her, 17 in all!! I'm so excited she was the second duck to sit on her own eggs but the first to be successful. Our first lady was stolen in the night by, I believe a raccoon. We have two more gals sitting on eggs 1 I can not find, but the other is right out by the boat with 11 eggs. I am so hoping they are both as successful. Here are a few pictures of the new babies.

Here is the new momma, she was so upset at me. I had to back off to get her to stop giving me dirty looks lol..

Ok, last one here is one with her and 16 of the babies, for some reason I was unable to get them all in one photo. Although 1 baby might be hiding under her.

Ok I took a ton more but I won't make you suffer through them all. I get worked up when my girls hatch their own babies, it's so neat..

It's been busy on the Farm!!!

I am so excited it's been busy here. I just had to share. I have been waiting anxiously for my chicken, who has been sitting on eggs, to hatch them. It felt like FOREVER. Well last night she surprised me with 3 new babies. I love it, she even lets me hold them.

I do not know why it's so exciting for me to have my hens hatch their own babies. My husband and I hatch chicks daily in three different incubators. Maybe it's the natural process of things, but I am so happy for my two new mommas.

First Project finally complete

My doctor and his wife just had their first baby. I think I was almost as excited as they were/are. I found the original idea in a "Country Sampler" Mag. I love how it turned out. Even though I was nervous giving it to him today. He loved it.

Cut title from Denise of http://dscrapbookingroom.blogspot.com/ she was so kind to do the titles for me in SCAL, if you would like the file let me know and I'll figure out how to share it. The font is French Script MT.

Flowers are cuts from SVGCuts it's is the 3-D flower kit found here http://svgcuts.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19&products_id=82

The Crown is a cut from the "Potpourri Basket" Cart

"Marala" was cut from the "Stamped" Cart

The butterfly cut I found on the net but not sure who it belongs to. If you recognize it will you please share with me who made it so I can keep credit intact.

Background paper is DCWV Nana's Kids with glitter.
Cardstock used is DCWV Textured Spring cardstock stack.

The frame I picked up at Wal-Mart for 5 bucks, it was brown with a base mat, I painted the frame white and the mat pastel pink.
